Frequently Asked Questions Regarding the CSEA Juneteenth Settlement
 
Q: What is the CSEA Juneteenth Settlement?
A: A class action settlement was approved by the courts on Nov. 21, 2024. More information can be found in this link: https://csea.com/issues-advocacy/juneteenth-settlement/juneteenth-settlement-agreement
 
Q: Why didn’t I receive an email regarding potential eligibility?
A: Please check your spam/clutter/junk folders.  If you did not receive an email and believe you are eligible, please call the District Office Personnel at (530) 846-4721 x 8110 by February 17, 2025.

Q: The claim form is for 2021, what about 2022, 2023, and 2024?
A: Gridley Unified School District began recognizing Juneteenth as a paid holiday beginning in 2022, so the form is only for 2021.
 
Q: Isn’t paid time during a holiday earned at 1.5 times the hours worked?
A: This settlement provides for paid time at a rate of 1.0 times the actual hours worked on June 18, 2021.
 
Q: Who is eligible for the settlement?
A: Eligible employees worked or used available leaves (vacation, sick time, etc.) on June 18, 2021; held a position in the CSEA represented bargaining unit on June 18, 2021; currently holds a position within the CSEA represented bargaining unit; must submit the claim form by February 17, 2025.
